Styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR) is a synthetic rubber compound used in tire rubber, vulcanized rubber products, and other rubber-related products. This is a copolymer of two major monomers namely styrene and butadiene and is prepared by the polymerization of styrene and butadiene. These two monomers and their ratio and the polymerization process can thus be modified in order to favor preferred characteristics in the final rubber product.
SBR is also widely utilized in the automotive industry, especially in the production of tires.
